This category includes wool tops, yarns, fabrics and garments.

In May 2003, for the second consecutive month, China's imports of raw wool and top fell.
Australia's wool exports declined in both value and volume terms during the 2002/03 season. May 2003 saw exports fall to the lowest monthly level in at least 24 years, due mainly to a strong decline in exports to China. June 2003 data revealed a further drop.

Data for the 12 months to the end of June 2003 show New Zealand's wool exports declined 8% in comparison with the same period a year earlier. New Zealand's major export destination, China, had the most significant volume decline. Other major export destinations also declined with export volumes to the UK, Italy, and India all dropping. Exports to Australia increased.
