An unexpected increase in confidence indicators for Western Germany was evident in the February survey of 7,000 German businesses involved in manufacturing, construction, wholesale and retail trade. This was the second consecutive rise for Western Germany, while in Eastern Germany a third consecutive rise was recorded.
