In France, clothing production fell by almost one quarter in terms of quantities in the first four months of 2003 compared with 2002. However French turnover, including that from French companies producing offshore, has stabilised suggesting that the apparel industry has moved production to lower cost regions and rationalised production of lower priced commodity items.
