The Australian Merino

"The Australian Merino" by Charles MassyAn Australian classic, now revised and updated

The renowned book 'The Australian Merino' written by Charles Massy has been updated as a tribute to the Australian wool industry and 200 years of trade.

The first edition of The Australian Merino, published in 1990, was the most complete and detailed account of the evolution, history and present state of the Merino sheep.

In this 2nd edition, Charles Massy has uncovered more information about this remarkable animal, and genetic testing has added another layer of empirical science to the mix. Included in the work is a discussion of the state of the industry today and its future.

Charles has had a long involvement in the wool industry and with sheep breeding and founded the leading Merino stud ‘Severn Park’ in 1975, now running 7,000 Merinos for fine wool on the Monaro. He has published numerous articles on the wool industry, and has served on the Boards of the International Wool Secretariat and the Australian Wool Research and Promotion Organisation.

The 1217-page hardback commemorative book is available from mid-October 2007.
