Advisory panels
To facilitate the spread of ideas and information from woolgrowers to AWI and back again, AWI encourages those who have relevant expertise or a particular interest to apply for advisory panel selection.
What is an Advisory Panel?
An Advisory Panel is a group of individuals, selected by AWI, whose expertise and experience in the wool industry enables them to offer informed advice on a variety of matters pertaining to AWI R&D projects, programs and technical issues.

Background
In 2003 AWI began it's Advisory Panel Program which established advisory panels to provide feedback on projects that were to be funded by AWI on behalf of Australian woolgrowers. Woolgrowers with expertise and interest in particular areas of research were encouraged to apply.
AWI recognises that the wool industry has a substantial wealth of talent that, if strategically tapped and developed, will significantly enhance the rate of profitable innovation throughout the wool pipeline.

How and when are different panel types used?
AWI establishes targeted Advisory Panels, matching the selected advisors' expertise against the scope of the individual project(s) to be assessed.
The structure of these panels is designed to gather information from all sectors. This is essential in the coordination of information into AWI and for reporting to shareholders.

How to get involved: terms and conditions
Individuals are invited to participate in Advisory Panels that will assist AWI to determine the best projects for investment of research funds. Woolgrowers with expertise and interest in particular areas of research are encouraged to contact AWI.
Panel meetings normally involve a one-day commitment, for which reasonable travel expenses and a sitting fee are paid.
All applications received will be acknowledged and will be kept confidential.
AWI reserves the sole right to select the individuals to its ad hoc Advisory Panels.
Selected panel members will be required to sign a Confidentiality Agreement with AWI.
